1194: Table 'name' is marked as crashed and should be repaired

MySQL

What does it mean?

A table, usually stored with the MyISAM engine (also Aria in MariaDB), is marked as corrupted/crashed and cannot be used until it is repaired. Queries accessing the table fail with this error.

Why does it happen?

The MyISAM table was not closed cleanly during a sudden server crash/power loss, the disk filled up, a hardware failure, or the mysqld process was killed. Because MyISAM offers no transactions or crash safety, this happens far more often than with InnoDB.

How to fix it

Repair the table: REPAIR TABLE table_name; or offline with myisamchk -r. Always back up the data files before repairing. As a permanent fix, move the tables to InnoDB: ALTER TABLE my_table ENGINE=InnoDB; which makes them crash-safe. Check disk health and the myisam_recover_options setting.
