1969: MariaDB: Query execution was interrupted (max_statement_time exceeded)

MySQL

What does it mean?

MariaDB-specific (ER_STATEMENT_TIMEOUT): the query was interrupted because it exceeded the maximum execution time defined by max_statement_time. MySQL does not have this code; the MySQL equivalent is error 3024 (ER_QUERY_TIMEOUT, max_execution_time).

Why does it happen?

In MariaDB, exceeding the session/global max_statement_time limit or a limit set with SET STATEMENT max_statement_time=N FOR ...; an inefficient plan, a missing index, a large data scan or lock waits.

How to fix it

Analyze the query with EXPLAIN and speed it up by adding indexes and improving the plan. If the query genuinely needs to run long, raise the limit in MariaDB: SET SESSION max_statement_time = 60; (seconds) or SET STATEMENT max_statement_time = 60 FOR SELECT ...; If you use MySQL, see the 3024 entry (max_execution_time, milliseconds; MAX_EXECUTION_TIME hint). Split large operations.
