ORA-00604: error occurred at recursive SQL level
OracleWhat does it mean?
An error occurred during recursive SQL that Oracle runs internally in the background. This is a wrapper (outer) error that hides the actual error; the real cause is in the second error code listed directly below it.
Why does it happen?
Data dictionary access, a failing DDL trigger, a full SYSTEM tablespace, insufficient temporary space, a corrupted data dictionary object, or a failing LOGON trigger that runs at session login.
How to fix it
Read the second line that follows ORA-00604 in the error stack; that is the real cause, and fix it. For example, if you see ORA-01653, extend the tablespace. If a DDL/LOGON trigger is suspect, disable it temporarily: ALTER TRIGGER trigger_name DISABLE; Check SYSTEM and TEMP tablespace usage with DBA_FREE_SPACE.
