ORA-01950: no privileges on tablespace 'name'
OracleWhat does it mean?
The user has no quota on the tablespace it is trying to write to. In Oracle, a user must have a quota on the tablespace to allocate space for an object.
Why does it happen?
The user has not been granted a quota on the tablespace; typically a new user without the UNLIMITED TABLESPACE system privilege tries to create a table/index or insert data into its default tablespace. It appears during INSERT, CREATE TABLE or index growth.
How to fix it
As a DBA, grant the user a quota: ALTER USER app_user QUOTA UNLIMITED ON tablespace_name; or a specific limit: ALTER USER app_user QUOTA 500M ON users; Alternatively (use with care) GRANT UNLIMITED TABLESPACE TO app_user; can be granted, but this gives unlimited rights on all tablespaces and is generally not recommended.
