ORA-12514: TNS: listener does not currently know of service requested in connect descriptor
OracleWhat does it mean?
The listener is running but does not recognize the requested service name; that is, the service is not registered with the listener.
Why does it happen?
The database instance is not fully open, the service has not yet registered with the listener (LREG in 12c+, PMON registration delay in 11g and earlier), the wrong SERVICE_NAME is used, or SID and service name are confused.
How to fix it
View the services known to the listener: lsnrctl status and lsnrctl services. Verify that the database is OPEN. Trigger service registration: ALTER SYSTEM REGISTER in SQL. Check the LOCAL_LISTENER parameter and correct SERVICE_NAME usage. In a pluggable database, make sure the PDB is OPEN.
