DENIED Redis is running in protected mode: Redis is running in protected mode

Redis

What does it mean?

Redis is running in protected mode and rejected a password-less connection from outside (a non-loopback address). For security, unauthenticated remote access is blocked.

Why does it happen?

Redis, bound to all interfaces (or with a loose bind setting), received a connection from an external client without a password (requirepass) configured. protected-mode is on by default and in this situation blocks non-loopback requests. It indicates an unsecured Redis accidentally exposed to the internet.

How to fix it

The correct fix is to secure it: set a strong password with requirepass (or ACL users) and listen only on trusted interfaces with bind. If remote access is required, protect it with a password/TLS and restrict port 6379 with a firewall. protected-mode no may be set temporarily only on a closed/secure network, but it is NEVER recommended for internet-facing installations.
