verification_exception: verification_exception: Found N problem(s) — Unknown column / Unknown index (ES|QL, SQL, EQL)
ElasticsearchWhat does it mean?
The ES|QL (_query), SQL (_sql) or EQL query was parsed syntactically but failed semantic verification: the referenced index, field (column) or function was not found, or the types are incompatible. The error text gives the problematic line/column position (e.g. "line 1:18: Unknown column [field]"). A snapshot repository verification failure is not this code; it is repository_verification_exception.
Why does it happen?
A misspelled field name or one not in the mapping; an index pattern that does not exist or matches no index; an unsupported operation on a text field (e.g. grouping on text instead of its keyword subfield); a comparison between incompatible types or an unknown function.
How to fix it
Fix the query using the line:column information in the error message. Verify field names and types: GET idx/_mapping (for SQL, DESCRIBE idx / SHOW COLUMNS). Check the index pattern with GET _cat/indices. Use the keyword subfield (field.keyword) for grouping/sorting; for type mismatches apply an explicit conversion (ES|QL: TO_STRING, TO_INTEGER, etc.).
