701: There is insufficient system memory in resource pool to run this query
SQL ServerWhat does it mean?
SQL Server could not allocate the memory needed to run the query from the relevant resource pool. The operation failed due to memory pressure.
Why does it happen?
Insufficient server memory, a low max server memory setting, memory-hungry queries (large sorts/hashes), a memory leak, many concurrent requests, or Resource Governor pool limits.
How to fix it
Review the max server memory setting and provide enough physical RAM. Optimize memory-hungry queries (proper indexes, fewer sorts/hashes). Monitor memory: sys.dm_os_memory_clerks, DBCC MEMORYSTATUS, Perfmon memory counters. Adjust Resource Governor pool limits. Reduce concurrency if necessary.
