ERR bit offset is not an integer or out of range: Bit offset is not an integer or out of range
RedisWhat does it mean?
The bit offset given to a bit operation such as SETBIT/GETBIT/BITCOUNT is invalid: it is not an integer or is outside the allowed range. Redis cannot perform a bit operation at that offset.
Why does it happen?
Passing a non-numeric value as the offset; using a negative offset; or giving a very large offset that exceeds the allowed upper bound (a bit string can be up to 512 MB, i.e., about 2^32 bits). Arises from calculation errors in bitmap-based counter/flag structures.
How to fix it
Make sure the offset is a non-negative integer within the allowed range (0 to ~2^32-1; strings are at most 512 MB). Validate offset calculations (e.g., those derived from user IDs) for overflow/negative values. If very large offsets are needed, design the data to be split across multiple keys (sharding).
