ERR Protocol error: invalid multibulk length: Protocol error: invalid multibulk length
RedisWhat does it mean?
The Redis server could not parse the byte stream from the client according to the RESP (Redis Serialization Protocol). Because the element count declared by a multibulk command was invalid, the connection was closed with a protocol error.
Why does it happen?
Usually triggered by a non-Redis client (e.g., an HTTP request, an application connected to the wrong port) sending raw data to the Redis port, a broken/incomplete client library, faulty framing in a pipeline, or huge requests exceeding protocol limits (proto-max-bulk-len).
How to fix it
Verify that only a real Redis client connects to the Redis port (no stray HTTP/other protocol traffic). Update the client library and avoid custom/manual command generation that breaks RESP framing. If you send very large values, review the proto-max-bulk-len limit and request size. Make sure no intermediate proxy on the network corrupts the data.
