Move a chunk manually

MongoDBSharding

Command

sh.moveChunk("shop.customer", { customerId: 1000 }, "shard0001")

What it does

Manually moves the chunk containing the specified key to the target shard.

When to use it

To correct uneven distribution or place specific data.

Caution

A manual move can conflict with the balancer; large chunk migrations create IO load and brief locking.
