View and change ASM disk group attributes (compatible, disk_repair_time)
OracleASMCommand
-- Current attributes:
SELECT dg.name AS diskgroup, a.name, a.value
FROM v$asm_attribute a
JOIN v$asm_diskgroup dg ON dg.group_number = a.group_number
WHERE a.name IN ('compatible.asm','compatible.rdbms','au_size','disk_repair_time',
'failgroup_repair_time','content.type','sector_size')
ORDER BY dg.name, a.name;
-- Change (ASM instance, as SYSASM):
ALTER DISKGROUP <diskgroup> SET ATTRIBUTE 'disk_repair_time' = '8h';
ALTER DISKGROUP <diskgroup> SET ATTRIBUTE 'compatible.asm' = '19.0.0.0.0';
ALTER DISKGROUP <diskgroup> SET ATTRIBUTE 'compatible.rdbms' = '19.0.0.0.0';
-- asmcmd equivalent:
-- asmcmd lsattr -l -G <diskgroup>
-- asmcmd setattr -G <diskgroup> disk_repair_time '8h'What it does
Shows and changes the disk group compatibility levels (compatible.asm/rdbms), the AU size, and how long a temporarily failed disk is kept before being dropped (disk_repair_time).
When to use it
After a Grid upgrade, to enable new ASM features (flex disk groups, larger file limits), or to extend disk_repair_time during planned storage maintenance.
Caution
compatible.asm and compatible.rdbms CANNOT BE LOWERED ONCE RAISED. If compatible.rdbms is higher than the COMPATIBLE setting of the oldest database using this disk group, that database cannot mount it. Raise compatible.asm first, then compatible.rdbms. au_size can only be set when the disk group is created.
