concurrent_snapshot_execution_exception: concurrent_snapshot_execution_exception

Elasticsearch

What does it mean?

A new snapshot/restore request was rejected because a conflicting snapshot operation is running at the same time. Another snapshot operation is still in progress on the repository or index.

Why does it happen?

A previous snapshot still in progress, a concurrent snapshot/restore conflict affecting the same index, an SLM (snapshot lifecycle) policy colliding with a manual snapshot, or triggers at short intervals.

How to fix it

Check running snapshots: GET _snapshot/repo/_current and GET _snapshot/_status. Wait for the current operation to finish, or cancel it if necessary: DELETE _snapshot/repo/snapshot_name. Schedule snapshots so they do not overlap. Coordinate manual operations with SLM.
