1064: You have an error in your SQL syntax

MySQL

What does it mean?

The SQL statement has a syntax error; the server could not parse it. The message shows the text near the error.

Why does it happen?

A typo, a missing/extra comma or parenthesis, a reserved word used unquoted as a column/table name, syntax not supported by the MySQL version, or quoting/escaping errors.

How to fix it

The 'near ...' part of the message shows where the error starts; look immediately before it. Quote reserved words with backticks: order, group. Balance parentheses and commas. Verify that you are using syntax supported by your version. If you generate dynamic SQL, log and inspect the full resulting query.
