NOPROTO unsupported protocol version: Unsupported RESP protocol version
RedisWhat does it mean?
The client requested a RESP protocol version the server does not support. Usually returned when RESP3 (version 3) is requested with the HELLO command and the server supports only RESP2.
Why does it happen?
HELLO 3 was sent but the server runs an old Redis version (pre-6.0) or does not support RESP3; the client library requests RESP3 by default but the server is old. A version mismatch.
How to fix it
Configure your client to use RESP2, or request a valid version with HELLO (HELLO 2). Upgrade the server to a version that supports RESP3 (Redis 6+). Review the protocol version setting of your client library; most libraries can fall back to RESP2 automatically. Verify the server version: INFO server (redis_version).
